Yusof Affandy Jamaludin and Anas Zamharil Mohd Nasir successfully made it through the Professional Golf Association of Malaysia (PGAM) Pro-Trial at Impian Golf & Country Club today.
The 36-hole trial saw a total of 22 participants from different parts of the country take on the scenic and challenging Impian course. The qualifying mark was set at eight-over-par for men and ten-over for women.
Yusof carded scores of 74 and 75 for a five-over-par 149 total. The 21-year-old, who recently returned to the competitive scene after a short hiatus, will be putting more hours into practice to improve his game after receiving his PGAM membership.
"I hope to join more tournaments next year and gain more experience," said Yusof.
Anas, who works at the The Els Club Teluk Datai on Langkawi Island, shot 77 and 74 for seven-over-par total. The 42-year-old is hoping for more learning opportunities and exposure moving forward.
"I'll be returning back to Langkawi after this, hopefully I'll have the chance to grow the game back home and gain more knowledge after joining the association," shared Anas.
PGAM general manager Faridil Atras hopes that younger players will join similar pro-trials in the future. "We hope to attract the younger generation to join the trials and become our members, and push them towards more professional events in and out of Malaysia," he noted.
