Korea’s rising star Joohyung Kim cannot wait to take a photo at the famous Swilcan Bridge when he tees it up in this week's 150th Open Championship at St Andrews Golf Club.

Fresh off a third place finish in the Genesis Scottish Open on Sunday, the talented 20-year-old is already planning on which photos he would be seeking to capture during his time at the Old Course.

“The (Swilcan) bridge, for sure!

“150th Open at St Andrews, I've only heard good things about it. I'm heading over today and hopefully see the course tomorrow. Just look at the course and just take it all in,” noted Kim, who will be making his third Major start.

Despite playing for the first time in Scotland, the 20-year-old Kim fired a final round 67 at Renaissance Club in North Berwick in the US$8 million Genisis Scottish Open to finish two back of winner Xander Scahuffele. The tournament was co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour as part of a strategic alliance.

Kim noted that his T23 finish in last month's US Open was a big confidence-booster as it was the first time he had made the cut in a Major. “I've been playing really solid coming into this week and obviously finishing 23rd in the U.S. Open was a very big thing for me where I feel like I can compete with these guys," he said.

"I practiced my whole life for this, coming down the stretch where a lot of the top players in the world came and me, tied for the lead coming to the last hole it was a great feeling. It's a stepping stone for me and definitely baby steps forward," added Kim, who goes by the English name “Tom” as he liked Thomas the Tank Engine cartoon when he was a kid.
