A lineup of local talents is gearing up to tee off at the Toyota Tour's season-opening Tun Ahmad Sarji Trophy, taking place at the Saujana Golf & Country Club from February 27 - 29.

Defending champion Danny Chia will be among the 84 players in the field this week, vying for a share of the RM180,000 purse.

Joining the veteran professional are Asian Tour card holder Ervin Chang, 2023 Toyota Tour winners Galven Green, Daeng Rahman, and Edven Ying, alongside the recent best-placed local professional at the Malaysian Open, Khavish Varadan, participating as a sponsor invite.

Apart from the tournament at hand, Chia, who turns 52 this year, is also looking to improve his 7th place standing in the 2023 Order of Merit (OOM).

“My goals have never changed,” said Chia. “I’m just trying to keep healthy and fit and play as many tournaments as possible.” He is heading back to Japan next month for the final stage of the Japan Seniors qualifying school. “If the schedules are right, I will try to play more Toyota Tour events this year.”

In addition, it's noteworthy that the Toyota Tour is organized by Professional Golf Malaysia, with MST Golf serving as the delivery agency.

OOM winner of the Ladies Championship, Aretha Pan, will be headlining the ladies' category, which has accumulated a total of seven other participants, including Camry Cup victor Geraldine Wong. Other talented players like Ladies European Tour member Ainil Bakar and OOM runner-up Jocelyn Chee are also competing for honors.
