Natasha Oon added a third Epson Tour runner-up finish this season after finishing one stroke behind champion Tsai Ching Tseng at the Island Resort Championship presented by Delta County Chamber.

Oon opened her campaign with a bogey-free 67 (-5) at Sweetgrass Golf Club. Highlighted by a run of four birdies in fives on her first nine holes and a final birdie on the last, Oon was trailing behind round one leaders Jessica Porvasnik and Tsai Ching Tseng by two at the end of the day.

Following up with a second day of four-under par 68, the 21-year old placed herself one behind overnight leader Austin Kim heading into the final round. Oon fell one shot short of the playoff, after carding in another five-under par 67 to end the week at Michigan.

Chalking up another runner-up finish, the Malaysian picked up a cheque for USD18,521 to take her season haul to USD82,257. Currently No.2 on the Race for the Card Standings, Oon is confident that her time to claim her first title will come.

“I had such a good score today, I’m not even mad with myself,” said Oon.

“There were some putts out there that I could have made, but with the rain and stuff, it was a little weird. I’m really happy that I played this well. Going into the next event, just knowing that I have been in contention all year, I feel I could win soon,” she added.

Compatriot Alyaa Abdulghany finished in T11 on seven-under par 209 with scores of 71, 70 and 68. While another Malaysian, Ashley Lau, failed to make it through the halfway cut after shooting rounds of 75 and 77.
