Malaysian No 1 Gavin Green made a solid showing with T6 finish at this week’s Jonsson Workwear Open at The Club at Steyn City, South Africa.

Green, who was one shot behind third round leader Alexander Knappe at the start of the final day, opened his round with three birdies on the 1st, 3rd and 4th. Gaining momentum, the Malaysian recorded another birdie on the 10th after the turn.

Green's second nine saw back-to-back double bogeys on 12 and 13, followed up by three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16. He closed his round with a bogey on the 18th to finish with a score of two-under-par 70.

Having opened his campaign with a six-under-par 66, followed by two rounds of 67, Green earned a T6 finish on 18-under-par 251, six shots behind winner Nick Bachem of Germany. Following this week's performance, the 29-year-old climbed up 20 spots on the DP World Rankings to 86th place.

Twenty-three-year-old Bachem claimed his maiden DP World Tour victory with an impressive score of 24-under-par 264. He carded scores of 65, 66 and 69 in the first three rounds and sealed the deal with a bogey-free eight-under-par 64 on the final day.

"It's just amazing. I can't understand what's happening the last couple of days, it's just amazing and feels great," said Bachem. "I just had the goal to enjoy today, it's just the beginning of my career so I just enjoyed it as much as possible and played great and got lucky that it was my day.

"I thought it was super-close and then I saw the leaderboard on 15, saw I was four shots ahead or whatever and then I was super-nervous. I just kept on going and it was a pretty nice finish."
