Malaysia's Mirabel Ting obliterated the field in the 74th Singapore Open Amateur Championship women's divsion, winning the title by a massive 16-shot margin.
The long-hitting 16-year-old from Miri, Sarawak, fired rounds of 71, 68, 67 and 71 at Tanah Merah Country Club's Tampines Course for an impressive 11-under-par 277 total. Her win came appropriately on Sarawak Day, the official independence day of the East Malaysian state.
Singapore's Hailey Loh was a distant second on five-over-par 293. Mikhaela Fortuna and Sofia Chabon of the Philippines finished joint third on 297 (+9), three clear of another Malaysian, Ashley Goh.
Foong Zi Yu was the next best-placed Malaysian in 13th place on 313, while compatriot Kelly Low missed the halfway cut.
The men's title meanwhile went to India’s Yash Majmudar after a dramatic three-way playoff with Weerawish Narkprachar from Thailand and Isaac Lam from Hong Kong. The three golfers had finished regulation play tied on three-over-par 291.
The win earned Majmudar a spot in the Asian Tour's International Series Singapore on August 11-14 at Tanah Merah.
Samuel Slater was fourth on 292 (+4), one shot clear of fellow Australian Franklin Lydra.
The best-placed Malaysian was Anson Yeo in joint eighth position on nine-over-par 297, while the top Singapore player was Justin Kuk in T10 on 298 (+10).
The other Malaysians were Rizq Adam Rohizam (T18, 303), Benjamin Ngelingkong (T27, 308), Lo Tien Ming (30th, 309) and Muhamad Nasrullah Zulkifli (35th, 314).
