Malaysia's top lady amateur Natasha Andrea Oon ended her senior season with San José State University on a high, despite her team exiting the match play stage of the 2022 NCAA Championships with a loss to Oregon in the quarterfinals.

Oon was two-up after 13 holes in her match against Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen when the match was called due to Oregon building an unassailable 3-0 lead at Grayhawk Golf Club.

The Spartans, as the San José State team is known, had advanced to match play at the championships for the first time in school history as seventh seeds, and had to play second-seeded Oregon.

Earlier, Oon finished as individual runner-up in the 54-hole stroke play to anchor her team into the match play stage.

"I am beyond thankful for literally everything that has happened this season. I cannot believe my game has improved as much as it has, the momentum and the joy golf has brought me is insane," Oon posted on social media.

"Though our time was cut short for the matchplay event, I'm so proud of my team and everything we accomplished this season."

Oon, 20, has enjoyed a stand-out season with San José State and has two wins this year, at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional and Mountain West Conference Championship. She is currently ranked eighth in the Women's World Amateur Golf Ranking and is expected to climb up higher once the NCAA Championships are included.
