The TSM Golf Challenge Cup is set to return, bringing intense competition as 48 boys and 33 girls gear up to compete for the prestigious trophy at Kuala Lumpur Country Club’s East Course from June 19-22.

Alongside earning points for the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and vying for the title, participants also have the chance to win an incredible cash prize of RM133,800, which is claimed to be the largest offered in any youth golf tournament in Malaysia, to support their education in golf.

With this year’s 13th Edition coinciding with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf’s (TSMCG) 20th Anniversary, the prizes and remuneration for the both the Boys and Girls category will be levelled for the first time.

Open to Malaysian citizens between the ages of 13 and 21 (born on or after June 24, 2001, but before June 20, 2010) who meet the Rules of Amateur Status, the tournament features two categories: Boys (Under 21) with an MGA WHS Handicap Index of 8.3 & below, and Girls (Under 21) with an MGA WHS Handicap Index of 10.3 & below. The tournament will be played in a Stroke Play format over three rounds of 18 holes.

While maintaining the high stakes, this year's challenge places a renewed focus on the safety and comfort of the young players. Organizers have taken additional steps to ensure the participants are well-prepared and comfortable throughout the tournament, including granting caddies additional flexibility and setting up more water stations at strategic locations.

The 13th Edition of the TSM Golf Challenge promises to be a fair and exhilarating competition, showcasing the exceptional talent of young golfers in Malaysia. Over the years, the tournament has served as a platform for aspiring golfers to compete, earn rankings, and pursue international opportunities.

Admiral Tan Sri Dato' Setia Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor (Retired), President of the Malaysian Golf Association, said: “In 2022, our efforts, coupled with the valuable experience gained through the TSM Golf Challenge, have culminated in our best performance at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi. Our players brought home 2 golds and 2 bronzes - achievements that fill our hearts with pride and strengthen our determination to continue to develop the sport of golf in Malaysia.

This momentum continued into the 2023 SEA Games, where our talented golfers bagged another gold, a silver, and two more bronzes. This result shows as a concrete proof of the great potential and talent that exists in our country, which is partly made possible by initiatives of TSM Golf Challenge. In recognition of the talents being developed by Tunas Bestari Golf Academy, MGA has selected 4 players; namely Nur Batrisya Balkis, Nur Syafiqah Diana, Ngo Yi Belle and Ezekiel Riz Suzearitz, who have been included in the MGA elite youth golf team to represent Malaysia in regional junior golf tournaments”.

Notable Malaysian golfers, such as Kelly Tan, Galven and Gavin Kyle Green, Ainil Johani Bakar, Nur Duriah Damian, Wafiyuddin Manaf, Ashley Lau, Ng Jing Xuen, Anson Yeoh, and Malcom Ting, have represented the country in various tournaments and achieved success.

The TSM Golf Challenge provides a platform for aspiring golfers to showcase their skills and pursue their ambitions of becoming professional golfers. Year after year, the tournament attracts talented golfers from all corners of the country, contributing to the development of the next generation of golfers and promoting the growth of the sport worldwide.
