Inaugural Srixon Malaysian Junior Development Tour tees off with well-received first leg at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah GCC
The first leg of the inaugural Srixon Malaysian Junior Development Tour was held successfully at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf and Country Club from 27-29 September.
The event saw a total of 110 juniors separated into three different divisions, each with gross and nett categories for both boys and girls.
Aiden Kei Ahmad Shahruddin and Yan Yinuo triumphed in the Boys A and Girls A categories respectively for players aged 15-18.
Aiden carded rounds of 74, 76, 73 to finish three shots ahead of runner-up Muhammad Ajmal Amin Moh Fajri (75-82-69). Following in third placing was Nathan Wong Tsen Jac with a 234 (84-77-73) total.
Yan Yinuo submitted impressive rounds of 72, 76, 74 to claim first place for Girls A, (15-18), six shots clear of second-placed Sohniya Chandra Mohan at 228 (75-77-76). Kwak Minji was third on 234 (78-77-79).
In Boys B (13-14), Andrew Yap Yung Cheng conquered the division with a 237 (78-83-76) total. Finishing four shots behind was runner-up Muhammad Adlan Mohamad Nizam at 241 (81-88-72), while third place went to Lim Hao Yu with a total of 245 (83-82-80).
The winner of Girls B (13-14) was Nur Batrisyia Balqis Abdul Ghani who shot 74, 75 and 81 for the tournament for a 230 total. Nur Diana Syafiqah Abdullah finished a distant second at 242 (82-79-81), only two shots ahead of Ngo Yi Belle who tallied 244 (76-81-87).
Meanwhile, Group C (10-12) saw participants competing over two rounds. Daichi Hayashi grabbed first place on 150 with two amazing rounds of 75, while Liew Zun Xin finished second with 157 (81-76), followed by Uwais Alqarni Shahmira at 164 (84-80).
The Girl C category saw Vikasni Laakshithaa Bala Subramaniam finish in first place with scores of 74 and 72 for an impressive 146 total, a massive 15 shots ahead of Jane Sim on 161 (84-77). Park Kyoung Won finished third at 168 (87-81).
Aside from the top five gross prizes in each division, prizes were also given out to the top three nett finishers in every age group. There was also a lucky draw, open to all participants who completed a suvey form.
The junior talents had the opportunity to attend two Masterclass sessions during the three-day tournament - a fitness Masterclass on day one conducted by Jason Moriarty from Dwi Emas International School, and a Photography Masterclass by Oppo on day two.
The second tournament of the four-leg Srixon Junior Development Tour will be held at Royal Perak Golf Club in Ipoh from 18-20 October.
