Malaysia will be hosting the esteemed South East Asian Amateur Golf Team Championship from August 21-24, 2023, featuring the 60th Putra Cup, 14th Lion City Cup, 12th Santi Cup, and 8th Kartini Cup at the Mines Resort & Golf Club.

Nine countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia, will be represented by their top amateur players in each respective category.

The Putra Cup, initiated in 1961 by Malaysia's former Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman, was designed to foster closer ties among South-East Asian nations and elevate the regional standard of golf. Complementing this legacy, Singapore introduced the Lion City Cup in 2004 to recognize the region's best boys golfers under 16. While Thailand introduced the Santi Cup in 2009 to feature the top women amateurs, followed by Indonesia introducing the Kartini Cup in 2013 to highlight junior girls under 16.

The event, by invitation only, extends to members of the ASEAN Golf Federation. Though Myanmar, Laos, and Papua New Guinea will not be participating this year.

Initially planned for 2020, the event was rescheduled due to the Covid-19 pandemic to prioritize the safety of all participants.

Malaysia, the proud host, will showcase talents including recent SEA Games silver medalist Malcolm Ting and gold medalist Ng Jing Xuen.
