Malaysia’s Malcolm Ting bags wire-to-wire Indonesian victory with North Sumatra Amateur Open title
Top ranking amateur Malcolm Ting once again triumphed in Indonesia with a one-shot victory at the North Sumatra Amateur Open held at Royal Sumatra Golf Club from March 7-9.
The Sarawakian started his campaign with impressive rounds of 66 and 69, giving him a two-shot lead over Vietnam's Nguyen Anh Minh going into the third day. Despite carding a final round of one-over par, Ting managed to maintain his lead and secure his second wire-to-wire victory in Indonesia, following his win at the South Sulawesi Amateur Open in February.
Trailing in third place was Rayhan Abdul Latief on five-under par 211 (71-69-71), while Anson Yeo Boon Xiang (73-72-71) emerged as the next best-placed Malaysian with an even-par 216, finishing in fourth place.
The ladies’ event saw Thailand’s Chananyu Chowiwattana claim champion honours after signing in a one-over par 217 (72-72-73). Meanwhile, Alya Afza Hazari finished as the leading Malaysian in T5 on 22-over par 238 (82-79-77).
