Great greenside control with new T22 forged wedges from Mizuno
Mizuno has unveiled the newest iteration of its wedges with the T22, featuring the brand’s renowned Grain Flow forging and two different finishes.
With over 50 years of refining the Grain Flow forging process, Mizuno claims their wedges are unrivalled for touch and feel around the green.
The new T22 wedges are one-piece Grain Flow Forged using HD Boron in Hiroshima, Japan, where Mizuno irons have been produced since 1968. Similar to the new Mizuno Pro Irons, the T22 wedges feature a microlayer of copper beneath the nickel chrome delivering an extra split-second of control at impact.
"I’d look at the T22 as a great balance between the ultra-classic looks of the older T7 and the performance traits of the T20," said Chris Voshall of Mizuno Golf.
“We’ve managed to bevel the top edge in a way to retain the performance of the T20’s tapered blade but keep the more traditional look of the T7,” added Voshall.
According to Mizuno, the T22 wedges feature a slightly more compact, ‘modified teardrop’ profile with an extensively bevelled top edge to make it appear thinner.
A spin weighted blade design, created by tapering the upper portion of the blade, helps create more consistent spin and a more penetrating trajectory.
Mizuno has also included their HydroFlow Micro Grooves to deliver great wet weather performance as they’re laser etched to release moisture and reduce spin drop off. In addition to that, the Quad Cut milled, loft specific grooves are cut into Boron infused steel to offer a longer effective lifespan.
The T22 wedges are available in two finishes; Denim Copper & Satin Chrome. The copper finish will rust over time for a look requested by many Mizuno tour players.
The Mizuno T22 wedges retail for RM799 (MY)/$266 (SG) and are available from MST Golf stores in Malaysia and Singapore.
