The Golf Lab: 3D Motion Capture using Gears
The Golf Lab’s Ryan Kimber explains the fifth and final part of the Baseline Test, where a golfer’s swing is analysed includes using Gears to capture precise motion data.
Gears is an optical, high-tech motion analysis and body tracking system used by coaches, club fitters and club manufacturers to measure and analyse every nuance of a golf swing. Built on the same technology used by bio-mechanists and filmmakers, Gears records over 600 images per swing in less than a second and is widely acknowledged as the most advanced motion capture solution developed specifically for golf.
Golfers can view and experience their golf swings in slow motion capture, displayed in glorious 3D from address to follow-through.
Ryan is a Senior Teaching Professional based at The Golf Lab @ MST Golf Arena in The Gardens Mall, Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur.
