Malaysia's top lady amateur Natasha Andrea Oon continued her fine run of form by bagging the individual title in the Mountain West Championship with a record-setting 10-under-par total at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calfornia - the same venue where she made her Major debut as an invitee in the Chevron Championship just three weeks ago.

Playing for the San Jose State women's golf team, Natasha carded rounds of 65, 70 and 71 to win her first conference title by seven shots over team-mate Lucia Lopez Ortega. The Spartans, as the team is known, stormed to the team title by 30 shots with both victory margins also being tournament records. Another San Jose State player, Kajsa Arwefjäll, tied for third on even-par with Lauren Lehigh of New Mexico.

"I've been kind of chasing one for quite a bit in my college career and I've come close, so it was really nice to win, and also the win for the team. You know, we've been waiting on it since my freshman year," said Natasha, who is in her senior (final) year with San Jose State.

Natasha's victory was built on her stunning first round of seven-under-par 65, when she made six birdies on the back nine for an inward 30.

"The first day really propelled me to that spot. I think over the next two days it's just been a mental battle within me, just to try and keep myself within that space.

"That back nine on the first day was amazing ... to be able to do that just tells me that I can really go low if I want to. That was what really sealed the deal for me," noted the 21-year-old.

Natasha joined an elite list of Spartans who have won a conference title, including current head coach Dana (Lofland) Dormann, Pat Hurst, Denise Philbrick, Tracy Hanson, Lisa Walton, Janice Moodie, Marie Hedberg, Ashley Gomes, Jenelle Gomez and Erica Moston.

This was San José State's first Mountain West women's golf title since joining the conference in the 2013-14 collegiate season, and the 21st conference title in school history.
