Natasha Andrea Oon stoked at Augusta National Women’s Amateur debut
Malaysia’s top lady amateur Natasha Andrea Oon is super stoked to be making her debut in the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur this March 30-April 2.
The San José State University senior received the coveted invitation in mid-January and can’t wait to tee off in the third edition of the event.
Along with other top women amateurs from around the world, Natasha will travel to Georgia to play in the tournament the week prior to the Masters. The elite field will compete over 54 holes of strokeplay, with the first two rounds taking place at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The entire field will then play Augusta National in the official practice round on April 1, before the final round takes place at Augusta National featuring the top-30 players who made the cut.
“I'm really excited at the invite for sure. The Augusta National Women's Amateur is definitely one of the best events in women's amateur golf,” said Natasha, 21.
“It's crazy how prestigious Augusta is … it's a course that has seen many of golf's greatest moments and the chance to step foot and play the course is amazing to me!”
Natasha led her college golf team, dubbed the Spartans, to one of their best fall semesters in recent history as they placed second in three of four tournaments played. She finished second at The Molly Collegiate Invitational, third at the Stanford Intercollegiate, and fourth in the Patriot All-America Invitational, and is currently ranked 39th in the Women’s Amateur Golf Ranking.
As for her plans beyond the event, Natasha noted: “So far I just plan to see how my game is for the collegiate season in 2022 and plan some summer tournaments in the mix, maybe some qualifiers. It's still quite early in the year so I'm still figuring it out as I go.”
